Kashmir Project: Mainstreaming rural Kashmiris through peace building and skill development.
Project Location: Kashmir, India
Kashmir is popularly known for its spectacular natural beauty, but the frequent occurrence of natural disasters such as extreme cold, cloudbursts, flooding and landslides has repeatedly crushed the socio-economic conditions of people living in the rural Kashmir. In addition, geopolitical conflicts, religious intolerance, interference of neighbouring countries and detrimental ideologies have badly affected the women, youth and children of ural Kashmir like loss of family members, joblessness, financial struggles, psychological problems. Taking these situations into consideration, Covenant Social Service decided to walk along with the people and to mainstream them into the normal society by providing with opportunities for sustainable livelihood options through skill development, micro finance, linkages and children's education. The project also works towards developing an attitude of peace and social harmony within their society.
